Renee's Background

Renee began her career in family and child protection law, driven by a deep commitment to supporting families through incredibly sensitive and challenging times. But early on, she became disheartened by how the system often treated people as case numbers rather than as human beings. Clients were losing their voices, decisions were being taken out of their hands, and the emotional layers of each story were being overlooked.

When Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) was introduced as a mandatory step in family law matters, Renee saw a turning point—a real opportunity to create meaningful change. She retrained as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner and has now been working in this space for over 15 years.

Renee has spent much of her career with not-for-profit organisations, where she expanded her practice by training as a Child and Family Therapist, Child Consultant, and Family Group Conference Facilitator. These roles deepened her skill set and reinforced her belief in working with empathy, collaboration, and care.

For the past eight years, Renee has worked in the private sector, while continuing her passion for accessible support through her involvement with the Legal Aid FDR panel. No matter the setting, her focus remains the same: to bring a more human, compassionate approach to every conversation.

Renee's Focus

Renee specialises in Facilitative Family Dispute Resolution, gently guiding clients to use their own autonomy and wisdom to make decisions that reflect what matters most to them. She believes families are the true experts on their own lives and works to create a space where that knowledge is honoured. Passionate about sharing her understanding of family law and child development, Renee supports parents with insights and guidance that empower them to make informed, balanced choices.

Journeys Renee Often Walks With Clients

Renee’s practice is grounded in a client-centred and child-focused approach. She meets people where they are—emotionally, practically, and relationally—and adapts her practice to support each person’s unique journey. With empathy at the heart of her work, she creates a space where clients feel safe, understood, and able to move forward at a pace that feels right for them.

Rather than seeing the relationship as a one-way client/practitioner dynamic, Renee views it as a collaboration. She believes that everyone brings something valuable to the table—be it lived experience, knowledge, or perspective—and together, the best outcomes can be reached through mutual respect and shared purpose.

Words Close to Renee's Heart

"This too shall pass" - can be applied to so many different situations, yet is such a simple idea. The difficult times will pass, giving us hope and strength to see those difficult times through, grow and learn from them. The positive times will also pass, reminding us to be present, aware of and grateful for those most cherished memories.
