Mediation Services in Australia — Online, Australia-Wide
Mediation services give you a calmer, faster way to sort out a dispute — without a courtroom, and without waiting months for a first appointment. Halo Journey Australia offers online mediation across Australia with AMDRAS accredited mediators, 7 days a week from 6am to 10pm, with no waitlists.
If you're here because something has broken down — a separation, a workplace, a will, a fence line, a family member you can't talk to right now — you're in the right place. You don't need to know what category your dispute falls into. That's our job.
Why people choose mediation
You keep control of the outcome instead of handing it to someone else
It's generally faster and less costly than litigation
It's private and confidential
It's usually far less adversarial — which matters enormously if you have to keep dealing with the other person afterwards
It can be arranged quickly, including evenings and weekends
What mediation is (and what it isn't)
Mediation is a structured, confidential conversation guided by a trained, independent mediator. The mediator's job is to keep the discussion safe, fair and on track so both sides can actually hear each other and work towards their own agreement.
Here's the part most people get wrong, so let's clear it up straight away:
Mediation is not arbitration. Your mediator does not judge, decide, rule or impose an outcome on anyone. They don't take sides, and they won't tell you who's right. Any agreement reached is one you make — which is exactly why mediated agreements tend to stick.
A few other honest ground rules:
Mediation is voluntary. Everyone has to agree to take part. We can't compel anyone to attend, and we won't pretend otherwise.
We are not lawyers. Our mediators are AMDRAS accredited. We don't give legal advice, write court reports, produce expert evidence or represent anyone anywhere. If a legal question comes up, we'll tell you to check it with your own solicitor.
We're independent. We're not a court, tribunal, council or government body, and we don't act on anyone's authority. We can and do work alongside councils, schools, community organisations and other agencies — but we're neutral in the room.

Online mediation across Australia
Every session runs online through our secure practice platform, integrated with Zoom. That's not a compromise — for mediation it's often genuinely better.
Australia-wide. Outback, coast, capital city, or three states between the parties. Everyone joins from wherever they are.
No travel, no waiting room. Nobody has to sit two metres from the person they're in dispute with.
Private breakout space. Online makes it simple for the mediator to speak with each party separately when that helps.
Hours that actually work. 7 days, 6am–10pm. Evenings and weekends included.
No waitlists. We can usually get an intake booked quickly.
We're queer-founded and proudly LGBTQIA+ inclusive and gender-diverse affirming — more than half of our staff have lived experience as members of the community themselves. Your name, your pronouns, your family shape: respected, no explaining required.
Everything we do runs on our T.R.I.B.E. values — Together, Respect, Integrity, Beyond, Empowerment.

You and your own teenager can't get through a conversation - Parent & Adolescent Mediation
A dispute inside a community group or organisation - we facilitate community mediation similarly to neighbourhood dispute mediation and organisation mediation similarly to workplace mediation
Separating or divorcing, and you need to sort out parenting arrangements or financial separation - this is a different type of mediation altogether: Family Dispute Resolution
Fences, trees, noise, pets, driveways, strata - neighbourhood mediation
Conflict at work, between business partners, or in a small business - workplace mediation
A contested will, inheritance or beneficiary disagreement - Wills & Estates Mediation
A quick word on each…
Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) — a distinct and more specialised process for separating and divorcing couples and/or parents. If you've been told you need FDR specifically, or if you are looking to complete property/financial settlement due to a separation, or if you would like help with parenting matters.
Workplace and commercial — team conflict, manager and employee breakdowns, business partners at an impasse. We mediate; we're not HR consultants.
Neighbour disputes — the fence, the tree, the dog, the driveway, the strata committee. Small on paper, exhausting in real life.
Wills and estates — contested wills, inheritance and beneficiary disputes, often at the worst possible time.
Parent and adolescent — a facilitated conversation between a parent or carer and their own teenager, when every attempt at home turns into a fight.
Community and financial disputes — community groups, neighbourhood groups and organisations, and financial disagreements between parties. We take these on case by case — get in touch and we'll tell you honestly whether mediation fits.
How our mediation process works
A step-by-step guide of what to expect - served with calm, care, and clarity
You can download our Preparation for Mediation booklet here
Private intake — party one. A confidential one-on-one session with the mediator. What's happened, what matters most to you, what you're hoping for.
Private intake — party two. The same, separately. Everyone gets heard before anyone sits down together.
Joint mediation session — approximately 3 hours. The guided conversation itself, with breaks and private time as needed.
Some matters resolve in that one joint session. Some need a second. Multi-party disputes take more scoping, and we'll talk you through that upfront rather than surprising you.
You don't need to prepare a case, bring documents, or be good at arguing. You just need to turn up willing to talk.

AMDRAS Practitioner
Couples Counselling Specialist
Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner
Evie is a compassionate and down-to-earth AMDRAS Mediator, Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, and Couples Counsellor, with over a decade of experience supporting couples and families through life’s tougher seasons. With a calm, client-led approach, she creates a space where people feel truly heard, supported, and empowered to move forward with clarity and confidence.
Because Evie is also a counsellor, she is unusually comfortable with the emotional side of conflict. That matters. Most disputes aren't really about the fence.
Evie works with individuals, families, small businesses, councils, community centres, schools, community organisations and many other organisations.

Alongside mediation Halo Journey also offers counselling and psychotherapy, children’s therapy, couples counselling, health and wellness coaching and yoga — so if what you actually need is support rather than a negotiation, we can point you there too.
When mediation isn't the right fit
Mediation only works when everyone can speak freely and safely. It is not appropriate where there is family violence or abuse, or where one person wouldn't be safe, free or able to speak openly — including situations involving fear, intimidation or coercive control.
We assess this honestly at intake, and if mediation isn't safe or appropriate, we'll tell you plainly and help you think about what might be. That's not a failure; it's the right call.
If you're in immediate danger, call 000.
Frequently asked questions about mediation
-
A confidential, structured conversation led by an independent, trained mediator who helps both parties talk productively and work towards their own agreement. The mediator manages the process — you decide the outcome.
-
Mediation itself isn't a legal proceeding, and we don't give legal advice. What you do with an agreement afterwards — including whether to formalise it — is a legal question for your own solicitor. Bring any agreement to them before treating it as binding.
-
An arbitrator hears both sides and makes a decision that's imposed on the parties. A mediator does neither. We don't decide, rule or impose anything. This is the single biggest misunderstanding we come across.
-
Court is adversarial, public, and someone else determines the outcome. Mediation is confidential, collaborative, and the outcome stays in your hands. It's generally faster and less costly than litigation, and far easier on relationships you need to preserve.
-
Yes. What's said in mediation stays in mediation, with narrow exceptions where there's a risk to someone's safety or where the law requires disclosure. We explain exactly how confidentiality works at intake, before you commit.
-
Then mediation can't go ahead — it's voluntary, and we can't compel anyone. We won't pretend otherwise. What we can do is talk with you about how the invitation is framed, since a neutral, non-blaming approach often lands better than you'd expect.
-
Our standard process is two private intake sessions plus one joint session of approximately 3 hours. Many matters resolve there. Some need a further session, and multi-party disputes take longer — we'll scope it with you upfront.
-
Not to attend. Many people mediate without one. But we're mediators, not lawyers, so if you have legal questions — your rights, your entitlements, or whether an agreement should be formalised — get your own legal advice alongside the mediation.
